Puting the experience to good use  on the LGBT issues developed through the Leonardo da Vinci - TOI Project  EURIALO , starting from the end of 2011 CIRSES has developed a self-founded research named “ Transsexualism  and  Transgenderism ”.

This activity has carried out in cooperation with experts of SAIFIP (Service for the Adaptation between Physical Identity and Psychical Identity) –of the "San Camillo - Forlanini" Hospital of Rome, Prima FORMA Istituto di Psicoterapia Familiare e Relazionale , in order toto define and explore the training needs expressed by professionals working with people that, starting from a diagnosis of Gender Dysphoria, are ready to be embarked on a process of adjustment between physical identity and psychic identity (defined as transgender).

The team work then decided to carry out a survey conducted on a sample of Psychologists/Psychotherapists, Doctors, Lawyers and Nurses consisting of approximately 360 subjects (240 psychologists, 32 doctors, 89 lawyers).

Based on the results of this survey, it was possible to highlight the type of support (information / training ) demanded by these kinds of professionals with respect to working with transgender people and to finally define a framework of complete trainingfor the profession of psychologists/psychotherapists, divided into 10 thematic modules, complete with contents, approaches and teaching/training materials.

After the cooperation in this phase,  CIRSES took part in the organization of the  experimentation of the training modules that has been held in Rome at   6th and 7th October and 10th and 11th November 2012.

Good results of this experimentation and synergies activated by the research carried out by CIRSES and other Organizations make possible to develop the Leonardo da Vinci - TOI project named  CROSS-GENDER ”, submitted in the Call for Proposal 2013, deadline 31st January 2013, unfortunately not approved.

Considering the good score obtained by the Italian National Agency, CIRSES decided to cooperate to a new submission of the project, under the new EU Programme ERASMUS Plus - deadline 30 April 2014. Moreover, also this new submission has failed.

Now, the team work decided to find new opportunitiy loking for new EU Programmes funds.
